OnePlanetCapital portfolio update

The OnePlanetCapital Sustainability EIS fund invests into high growth potential companies that are combating climate change. Following the successful deployment of capital into its first tranche there has been good news from two of these investments.

Earthly

OnePlanetCapital invested into the carbon offsetting platform in September after being impressed by the client traction already gained and strong environmental impact.

Earthly has just completed its funding round by topping up on the angel platform Crowdcube. The raise has gone significantly over target and is likely to hit 200% from circa 900 direct investors which give the company funds of circa 2m GBP to scale the business moving forward.

Most notably Google also invested in this round;

We’re very excited to announce that Earthly will be one of Google’s first ClimateTech investments in their new Impact Fund portfolio. On the back of Earthly achieving the highest raise in their internal Google employee crowdfund campaign, Google is now directly backing our business - a huge milestone for us. OLIVER BOLTON, Earthly CEO.

Momentum continues to be strong and 180 companies are now using Earthly as a carbon accounting/offsetting partner.

We are confident in the nature based offsetting market as one of Earthly’s main competitors Planetly has just been sold to OneTrust, the Atlanta based Unicorn.

RAD Propulsion

OnePlanetCapital invested into the marine electric motor company in September after being impressed by the founding team and confident that the market for electric marine solutions looks set for high growth in years to come.

RAD completed their raise at 1.8m GBP. This was above the initial target of 1.2m. They currently have 4 x 40KW motor systems sold with 2 different OEMs (Original equipment manufacturer) doing live sea trials with a view to roll out later this year which will vastly increase revenues.

RAD currently have a lot of commercial interest with 3 further OEMs looking seriously at deploying the 40KW motors in 2022.

The launch of the new RAD2 outboard motor is likely to go into retail in late 2022 appealing to leisure boat users.
